100% Silk (16 momme) Because of its natural protein structure, silk is the most hypoallergenic of all fabrics. An all-climate fabric. Its natural temperature-regulating properties give silk the ability to cool and warm simultaneously. Silk is highly absorbent and dries quickly. It can absorb up to 30% of its weight in moisture without feeling damp. Silk will absorb perspiration while letting your skin breathe. In spite of its delicate appearance, silk is relatively robust and its smooth surface resists soil and odors well. While silk abrasion resistance is moderate, it is the strongest natural fiber and, surprisingly, it easily competes with steel yarn in tensile strength.
Hand wash in cool water. Use a good quality, gentle liquid soap.
Always wash and rinse silk fabric items separately from other non-silk fabric items.
Do not soak silk fabrics in water for an extended length of time.
Gently agitate the silk fabric by hand when washing and rinsing. Never twist or wring excess water from silk fabric. Gently squeeze out the excess water without stretching the silk fabric.
When the washing process is complete, rinse the silk fabric in cool water several times to ensure that all of the soap has been removed from the fabric.
Tightly roll the silk fabric item in a clean, dry towel to remove the excess moisture from the silk fabric.
Hang the silk fabric item in an area away from direct sunlight on a padded hanger not constructed of wood. Wooden hangers and drying racks will on occasion stain the silk fabric because of a finish applied to the wood. Do not hang the silk fabric near a source of heat.
